Clothing and sewn product examination process
From the enquiry and agreement on questions to inspection, examination and delivery of the result.
From enquiry to the result
Initial inquiry
State the item type, defect, when it was discovered, wear and care history, and whether labels and documents are available. Telephone consultation is free for up to 15 minutes.
Clarification of questions
Available signs and materials, the need for inspection, the specialist’s competence and whether answers are possible without laboratory tests are assessed.
Agreement on the order
The Invoice-Order records the item, questions, scope of work, cost, payment procedure, deadline and deliverable format. Terms are provided before payment.
Handover of the item
Inspection or handover of the item is agreed. Its condition, completeness, labels and documents handed over are recorded. Repair, washing and dry-cleaning details must be disclosed before examination.
Inspection and documentation
Accessible features of the fabric, seams, lining, trim, fittings, dimensions and labelling are examined. Necessary photographs are taken.
Additional examinations
If tests, removal of fragments, unpicking or other alterations are needed, methods, scope, consequences, providers and costs are agreed in advance.
Preparation of the deliverable
An inspection record, specialist opinion, review or other document specified in the order is prepared with the source data, results and limits of the findings.
Submission and return
The deliverable and service acceptance record are provided on paper and/or electronically as agreed. The item, surviving samples and documents are returned in the manner set out in the order.
The item and laboratory work
An initial inspection does not automatically include every specialised property. Determining fibre composition, colour fastness, strength or chemical effects may require tests. Methods that alter the item or consume samples are considered when agreeing the assignment.
Describe the item, defect and circumstances
Send photographs of the item, labels, markings and defects, purchase documents, the contract, product listing, seller’s refusal, dry-cleaning documents or the seller’s opinion. Free telephone consultation for up to 15 minutes.
