Items covered by clothing and sewn product examination
Clothing, sewn products, fabrics, fittings and batches within the agreed commodity examination assignment.
Clothing and sewn products
- Everyday clothing, dresses, suits, knitwear and other agreed items.
- Outerwear: jackets, down jackets, coats and raincoats.
- Leather and fur clothing within the particular assignment.
- Uniforms, workwear and batches under a contract or technical specification.
Materials and related items
- Fabric, lining, filling, trim and surviving fragments relevant to the assignment.
- Zippers, snaps, fasteners and other garment fittings.
- Labels, markings, packaging and purchase, tailoring and dry-cleaning documents.
- Photographs, videos, samples, earlier opinions and test records.
After care, repair or alteration
An item may be submitted after washing, dry cleaning, repair or alteration. Whether the cause of a defect can be established depends on the surviving signs, treatment history and documents. Missing labels or alterations may limit the findings; this is considered when accepting the assignment.
Limits of the examination
This list does not mean that every order is accepted or every specialised property tested. Questions, competence, methods and the need for tests are determined before work begins. A commodity opinion does not replace conformity assessment or tests of workwear’s specialised protective properties.
Describe the item, defect and circumstances
Send photographs of the item, labels, markings and defects, purchase documents, the contract, product listing, seller’s refusal, dry-cleaning documents or the seller’s opinion. Free telephone consultation for up to 15 minutes.
